What are STIs?

STIs are infections that are transmitted through having unprotected sex or skin-to-skin contact.

STIs can be caused by:

  • Viruses (such as HIV, herpes and genital warts)
  • Bacteria (such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis), or
  • Parasites (such as crabs, scabies and trichomoniasis)

MPOX and Vaccination

Vaccination can prevent mpox and is available for anyone at high risk of infection. This includes men who have sex with men, sex workers, health workers and anyone who may be in contact with a person infected with mpox.
